Steampunk Odyssey

This was done as a class demo for my character design course. I did the grayscale and applied a sepia ovelay, then hand-painted "film scratches and burns" for that vintage look.

Couple of new numbers

Here is a couple of pics of recent. One is just a dude in some high-tech fat suit (don't ask...I just drew it). And the other is some creepy creature type somewhat inspired by H.P. Lovecraft.

Quick ninja job...

So the other week I went in for a meet for some potetial design work. Needed to crank out some quick stuff to show the producer, and this ninja was one. Quick pencil sketch, scanned and painted in PS and Painter. Tried incorporating lots of textures and custom patterns. I think it came out ok...though it could use some more work. Total time spent on the piece: 2.5 hours. Gotta work fast in the biz!

New doodles to be painted...

Here are a few doodles I liked enough to prep in photoshop for painting...hopefully soon. The space-guy is missing a raygun (didn't like the original so I got rid of it). The problem has been that when I sketch, if the design catches my eyes I don't render it in pencil right in the sketchbook as to save the rendering for later PS work. That way the render process stays fresh and fun. Granted, pencil rendering would be good practice. I will upload updated versions later.

The Polar Team

It is relatively cold in LA...though it isn't snowing anytime soon, I thought to do a snow themed pic.

Various bits from my sketchbook

Here are a few sketches from a sketchbook of mine. I already scanned them and plan to digitally paint them when I get the chance. I have a problem of buying new sketchbooks of various shapes and sizes withouth having had filled the older ones...an addiction if I may say. :) Nevertheless, I am never short on sketchbooks.

Silhouette studies

Here is a bunch of silhouette studies I did for my class demo. I find it to be a good exercise for exploring new design ideas.

Here is a demo piece I did for a digital painting workshop that I conducted at the Art Institute. Pencil, Painter and Photoshop...

New CD Cover...

Sorry for the delay in postings...been somewhat busy. Nevertheless, here is a piece I designed for a CD cover. I rather enjoyed the process and am definitly open to doing more CD illustrations. Enjoy!
