I did these pieces for a test for a game company: Had to do a bunch of stuff in a week for the assignment, but due to some other things going on I ended up having to do them in less than half the time...such is the nature of the biz!
This was done as a class demo for my character design course. I did the grayscale and applied a sepia ovelay, then hand-painted "film scratches and burns" for that vintage look.
Here is a couple of pics of recent. One is just a dude in some high-tech fat suit (don't ask...I just drew it). And the other is some creepy creature type somewhat inspired by H.P. Lovecraft.
So the other week I went in for a meet for some potetial design work. Needed to crank out some quick stuff to show the producer, and this ninja was one. Quick pencil sketch, scanned and painted in PS and Painter. Tried incorporating lots of textures and custom patterns. I think it came out ok...though it could use some more work. Total time spent on the piece: 2.5 hours. Gotta work fast in the biz!
I am a freeelance concept artist/ illustrator based in Los Angeles. My work experience includes projects for Digital Domain, Rhythm and Hues, The Gentle Giant Studios, Warner, Sony and 5th Planet Games.
